can you rely on the lamba sond warning light? 700

1985 745t

Been wondering if the o2 sensor is working properly, and was wondering if I can rely on the lamba sond warning light to come on if the o2 sensor is malfunctioning.

What triggers the warning light? Does it only go on if the o2 sensor totally fails or dies?

thanks,
rt

I believe that the lambda sond light is triggered by mileage, not anything else. It is just there to remind you when you hit the factory recommended replacement interval. That light is not hooked up in either of my 240s.

I think that the best way to check the O2 sensor is to check the voltage it is producing. Take a look at a manual or the FAQ for more specifics.
