91' 240(Automatic) has problems starting when it rains 200 1991

Recently, I've had a hard time starting my 91' 240(automatic) when or after it rains. Anyone have similar problems? What would you suggest to fix it?

For sure, a quick tune-up is in order.

Usually the wires are arcing to ground. But often that's because the spark plug gap is way too wide. A quick fix for that problem is often to install new plugs, or to re-gap them to .028 to .030in. Maximum s/b .032

Also put in new cap & rotor. Bosch wires are a good choice; I really like Bougicord wires, however, as they're the "original". SHop around; these are somewhat expensive.

Is there a splash shield under the engine compartment?

I haven't had a chance to check for a splash shield yet. If one is not under the engine compartment, would you suggest installing one?

I live in the north west. 60 inches of rain here No splash shield = start problems. When it rains obviously.

Ditto wjw. I had a similar problem w/ my 91 740. I would go with the best aftermarket wires you can afford. OEM's lasted about 2 years. Can't tell you if they were OEM knockoffs. Bought them through the dealer though.
