Is this a good price for the coversion Parts 700

Well I called around and found a price of $500 for a M46 for 230FT.
The rest of the parts they are throwing in for another $250. That everything from the bell housing to and including the drive shaft. Everything I will need for the conversion. I have two other company's going to call me back tomorrow with their price for the same package. Hinted they were going to try to beat it.
Damn is the salvage business that slow.

doesnt sound too bad....the trans seems a little high though....If its the one with the aluminum case its ok....just verify the warranties, espically on the trans....If you have any problems you want to be able to get another one...unless you were going to go through and freshin it up....just make sure that when you get the trans delivered, its got the right shift linkage on it...700, and 200 had the same trans, different linkage, the 200 had one square bracket that the shifter is in. The 700 has 4 rods making kind of a cage that go back to where the shifter is. It puts the shifter over the output shaft, instead of the OD somewhere like on the 200. The output flange should also have 3 fingers. Also in the production of the M-46, the number of splines on the input shaft changed...the salvage yard sent me 2 wrong trannies when i did mine. You have to watch what they give you....Their job is to sell parts and junk cars...if it will fit and work, they will sell it to you, correct or not. Check all the parts THROUGHLY before installing them!!

That is a good price. Make sure the overdrive is a P type. While a J type works fine, the P type is more robust. Volvo started using the P type as a running change in the 1986 model year on the turbo cars.
