vibration when braking, check the archives but

My 240 has been vibrating while braking now for a time. New rotors, pads, inner and outer tie rods, wheels balanced and front end alignment, ball joint not too long ago and they seem fine.

The shaking seems worst with light braking at highway speeds, especially downhill. While not braking the front end seems perfectly fine.

Where to go next? Sticking caliper? Front bushings? Something to do with strut assembly?

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks

Kirk S

as strange as this seems, the rear brakes can cause the exact same symptoms!!

You might check the tie rods for excess play.

One thing also, check your wheel bearings for proper amount of grease and make sure they are adjusted. I have seen on a few occasions where wheel bearings were packed by a service center, but the bearings were not adjusted for right freeplay, causing the wheel to shimmy when brakes were applied and sometimes when hitting a bump.
