Valve Adjustment/Exhaust Port Temp 200

I've heard it claimed that you can tell if a valve is out of adjustment by measuring the temperature of the exhaust ports using an IR temperature probe. Anybody done or seen this work?

I just thought it sounded kind of cool.

I would not trust too much information from that source. By the time that sensor was able to detect a temp variation due a valve not closing it would be burned, toast, too late. Long before it reached that point it would have been out of adjustment which would be undetectable by heat sensor. And what about your intake valves??? The only way to checjk valve clearance is with a feeler guage... period.
