Need help identifying CIS control unit 200 1984

Last week I discovered that my car (turbo) had no cis control unit, which explains why my idle is so erratic. I went to the junkyard and found a black box with the right connectors on it but I am not sure it is the CIS unit. The ID# on it is 0 280 220 008. What worries me is that is says 12V/6zyl. Does that mean this is for a 6 cylinder? Anyone know German?
There is also another black box attached to it. It is a Hella box with an 8 wire connecter (plus a ground). 5GA 003828 01. Any clue what this is?

The part Bosch number you are quoting 0 280 220 008 is the idle control unit for a 1984 760 non-turbo B28F engine.

The correct part you need for a 1984 GLT(turbo)B21FT engine is 0 280 220 005. This unit was also used on the '82DL & GL and the '82 - '85 GLT; if you are hunting for one in a junk yard.

Hope this helps

Morton

The bottom 'puter on my passenger side has a Bosch PN of "0 280 220 005" and reads 12V/4zyl. I figure the 6zyl indicates it's for a 6 cylinder (the tachometers are marked similarly).

I've got no idea if there were any variations in the CIS computers between the various four bangers. IMO if you can get that for cheap (the pick and pull here has a price list up, find the cheapest computer and tell them it's that -- or buy it with a guarantee and then scavange the right one if it doesn't work) it's worth a shot. Worst case you end up frying the computer, right?

Your other option would be to track down a 240 with K-Jet and no CIS (not sure if any US market 240s were equipped this way.. some Canadian ones were for sure). You could then swap in the necesary parts to remove the CIS setup completely. This would also make it easier to run a hot cam like the K grind one.

Thanks for the info, you told me exactly what I did not want to hear. I am not sure if there was another computer there. Your are right that CIS equipped cars are rare in Canada. Pretty much only the Turbos and apparently 6 cylinders.
I might plug it in for fun, I don't think its gonna fry, it will just set the idle speed wrong because it will misread the ignition signal.
Oh well, thanks for the number at least, I will be able to look in the pile of computers for the right part.

Yes, Nova Scotia Canada. If you come across one that would be great, but its a long way to mail it. I may be able to find one here, I just didn't know the part #. The place I get my parts actualy stips all the cars down and puts the good parts in storage. So the parts are in great shape, but you don't know what car they came off, and he has a big pile of control units.
I guess if I was more electrically inclined I could probably modify this OO8. I'm guessing there is just a different resistor somewhere, like on a tachometer.

Check the Idle Motor(electrical) as well and set the Idle correctly as per Bentlys' or check archives.
