Sounds like either the throttle valve is still not adjusted, because it should have gone away immediately, not in a "couple of months". Try lubricating the cable.
The other thing that will cause hang between shifts is sticking valves in the valvebody caused by varnish build up or in rare cases by water getting into the transmission.
Here is a suggestion to use if readjusting the cable and lubing it doesnt work.
Go buy a can of Chem-tool B-12. Liquid not spray. Pour one half can into the transmission and drive the car in a manner that causes it to shift a lot. DONT POUR MORE THAN HALF CAN !! If you do it will vaporize rather rapidly and blow the oil out the spout. It is also ok to use 1/4 can at a time. After driving a while, the heat will vaporize the B-12 and it will go out the vent.
As a mechanic I have used this method many times and have advised people who call into the shop to use it. It has saved a number of transmissions that were thought to need rebuilds. Example, I had one customer call in and said he could not get his truck to go into overdrive. On that truck, the OD valve was the most sensitive to sticking and it fixed his problem.
Again, I would use this only after you have tried more obvious methods.
One thing, if you are concerned about it harming the transmission, it wont. B-12 had the same chemical composition at a lot of over the counter transmission flushes and seal expanders. The only difference is B-12 costs about $ 2 a can and the Quart size oil additives cost $8 to 12!!
Hope this helps
