Amazon on E-bay 120-130

There is a beautiful looking Amazon on E-bay in kentucky that i am interested in bidding on. It's a long shot but is anyone familiar with this particular or anyone who would like to look at it for me would be appreciated. the car is supposed to have won a concours prize so i would assume it is very nice but piactures do lie as I have found out to my chagrin.
Many thanks to anyone who could help.

I saw that this auction ended with the car "not sold" at $7,600 with the reserve not met. I was wondering if anyone has heard if the owner decided to sell in a private transaction after the auction. And what do people think that this car is worth? It would certainly be very expensive to reproduce, but how much can an old Volvo really command?

Wow! $7600 and it still didnt meet reserve. That sure seems like an awful lot of money for a 122 and one thats been modified to boot( I admit the mods improve the car).

I watched with interest as I could have been interested around $5500 which I thought would be high money for the car. Oh well, another one will come along. As another poster said, 122s are fairly common and not exactly the car to make a trailer queen out of.

That sounds near the very top of the range for a non 123GT 120 coupe. Trouble with 'collectible' Volvo's is most owners wil6 want to actually drive the car around, so past a certain point the absolute perfection of the car becomes a moot point. Very few (if any) trailer queen 100 pt concours Volvos around. And 122 coupes are by no means rare - even in nice condition.

In other words I'd say $7,600 was a good price.

Yes, this is a nice looking car in the small pictures on the net. Note that the car is billed as a 1968, but doesnt have 68 features like side marker lites, padding on bottom of dash, and of course you can't see if it has headrests. In the Amazon register, the car isn't listed, but serial number that was given puts it in the 1967 range. Maybe it wasn't sold originally 'til the 1968 model year. Note that it has a Vermont license tag which would put it as being from the heart of the snow belt.

Yep, its tempting me too and I don't need another car...even one thats not a project. Good thing Im at least 600 miles away from it.

Nice car, although my '67 wagon is the probably the best Amazon in the country.

If it were me, I would seriously consider flying out there for the weekend with cash in hand and giving it a thorough inspection before buying. Short of that I would ask for detailed undercarriage photos, although if it truely is a concours winner then you shouldn't have to worry about rust and rot. And get some detailed info about what has been done to the engine - he doesn't mention anything about a rebuild, just a resto. If the rust is zero, engine was properly rebuilt, with hot tank soak, new bearings seals , etc etc. and the trans shifts properly into OD, then go for it.
sorry i don't live near by , i'd check it out for ya
