M46 won't go in gear, why not?

I replaced the clutch cable on my 81 240 DL, topped the M46 with Type F fluid and adjusted the cable every which way bus loose (ok, I also did loose). I'm guessing the next step is replacing the clutch/beating/seal/pressure-plate. Before I do... Is there possibly anything else I'm overlooking/haven't tried yet?

These are the symptoms: Will not engage into the gears with the clutch. I can start the car in first (or reverse) and then shift with the sincros into the other gears.

Any ideas would be appreciated, as well as experience.

Thanks!

Your clutch is not fully releasing. How was it before you replaced the cable? If it was okay, then you have a problem with the new cable installation and adjustment.
