Smog test...........HEAT!

Question: If the normal operating temp for say a B21 or b230 is 197 degrees. Would the No (PPM) read lower if you installed a 160 degree thermostadt?

yes it would be lower but the hydrocarbon content would then be higher due to a incomplete combustion due to the lower temp.

      Mr. Bear,
Thanks! I pulled a 71 degree (160F) out of an 85 turbo I just got. I replaced it with an 87. What would the long term effect be on a motor run constantly under (cooler than) the correct operating temp?
