Alternator Bolt... 140-160 1974

Hello,

My beloved 74' 164 started making a strange knocking sound and lossing power as I was driving down the Warrego Highway a few days ago. Fate being what it is, I had the bad luck of breaking down in Ipswich QLD (dont know if anyones ever had the displeasure). Ive discovered the top of the two bolts which secures the arm to which the alternator is bolted to is missing. Im speaking of the bolts that secure the arm to the engine block. I wrenched the bottom bolt bloody tight and was back on the road. I was hoping someone out there might know what size bolt/thread I need...is it the same as the bottom bolt?

Thanks

Pascal

Is your alternator on the right or left side of the engine?
If it is on the right it is probably 1/2"-20 UNF.
Should probably have a spacer about 1/2" thick between the
alternator and the block, if I remember right.
If it is on the left it might be some other size.
