car smokes like the marlboro man 700

i have a 740 turbo the turbo went bad about a year ago, replaced it with a used one, but then ended up parking the car i started it pretty regularly then it just wouldent start, i traced the problem to bad spark plugs, but now when i start the car up i smoke out the neighborhood, wich usually means the turbo is bad. so i guess my question is: what is the color difference between oil smoke, and gas smoke, what else can i check to see if this is the turbo being bad thanks

to tell if your turbo is good or not, look at your boost gauge. if it's not going into full boost then thay may be the problem, although their are 1000 other things it could be. white smoke is oil, black is fuel, if it's black it may be running a bit rich, although this is normal, but if your throwing up a misqueto net then you probably have more problems than that..... if it is fuel, it's probably in on the ignition side, if it's oil then it may be in the engine it's self.. to hard to tell from this veague of an explination.

if you just want to get rid of it, i'll pick it up

o yeah, its throwing up the mosqito net, but the smoke was blueish, but you may have hit upon something with the ignition statement, because when the car wouldent start i traced it back to the spark plugs which were brand new, i swaped in some old ones i had laying around and it started it so i was kind of suspecting that there might be some other ignition problems.

Before you get worried, change you oil.If it ran so rich as to foul your plugs, than your oil is full of gas. Also look[hard] for any vacuum leaks or deteriated hoses.Mine⏣ 740t] pulled this stunt about a year ago[smoked up the whole neighborhood!]Drain the intercooler also, could be full of oil.It also took an hour or so to stop smoking[stayed close to home in case it blew ha !]Anyway it has run perfect since then and has been on several long trips.
