How do you clean a Cat Converter? 200 1983

Have a '83 245 GL Turbo.......my catalytic converter is giving me a bad emmision reading ( should be no more then 4.0 .. mine gives me a reading of 5.6)

the cat is not clogged ... engine performes well...can the cat conv be cleaned some how??

    Which reading ? First check the obvious air filter, O2 sensor , AMM settings , timing, vacuum line before you change the cat .

    However I have an emissions problem here on my 1985 . My 218k mile car failed with high 1700/1100 NOx. I have found a flange type Bosal limited lifetime warranty (they'll lose on me and most other 240 owners) cat for about $ 100.00 at on of the chain autoparts store which require a 2 special order .
