Help 740 running rough AMM? 700 1987

It starts. Runs like crap. Seems like it's missing at idle (or running on one cylinder), shaking and loud. On high rmp (driving) sounds like a freaking rod is about to go. But I think this is 'pinging'. I don't think its mechanical because the noise stops as I let off the rpms and the engine still feels fine.

Here's what I know. Spark is blue. If I remove the #1 plug wire, engine is the same. #2 wire engine is same. #3 wire, engine dies. (by the way I get spark on all wires).

I replaced the cap and rotor, not much difference.

Disconnected the AMM, car still runs the same.

I checked the AMM, hot wire in tact. How do test it's ohms? Can't find a mention of it in the manual??

Wiring harnes! Hah, what harness, it's all wires by now. I don't think harness is causing this, moving the wires seem to have little effect. But I will carefully examine them more.

The amm wire and connector seem fine

Plugs is another issue. #2 plug is cross threaded and I don't want to even try to remove it. The plug has about 40K miles on it (bosch plat).

Reason why I suspect the amm is becuse, there is no change in the way engine behaves when the amm is removed. I checked the resistance on it and it's with in specs.

What about # 4???? 700 1987

From your description you are not firing on 1 and 2. What happens with #4??? Have you pulled the plugs and inspected them? Compression test may be a next step. Not sure why you are looking at the AMM for this problem.
