Mix Redline with ATF type F in 4spd+OD 200 82

Today while adjusting the clutch & checking the transmission oil level I found myself short as my castrol ATF type F was only 1/4 QT full.I added a QT of Redline synthetic gearbox oil to top up my transmission. Is it safe or not to mix this with Castrol type F? I have the 4spd+OD Manual trans.

Not recommended. But short term probably won't hurt a thing. Find out where she's leakin'.

The juices are similar in action but different in constituents...but they'll "mix"...it's just that you may not get the best of both fluids. Volvo forbids the mixing of ATF F and motor oil in the M46.

Sorry I was not more specific but I did NOT use motor oil.I mixed in Redline MTL which is a specific synthetic for gear boxes.Since ATF type F is specific for Volvo tranny's I wanted to see if I could mix it with the MTL in a pinch.

Re: Mix Redline with ATF type F in 4spd+OD 200 82

I knew you used MTL. (And I know MTL)

I was just stating what Volvo sez about ATF F and motor earl (and I know motor earl)...as a comparison, not that it REALLY has a lot to do with your situation.

As I stated, short term it shouldn't hurt MUCH, but to be a LOT more certain contact Redline.
