Synth oil weights and change intervals.... 700 87

So, I changed all the cars (740/760 turbo/850) to synthetic...Mobil 1 10-30. This is what was available in my local stores....New York here...weather getting colder...low 30's, expecting even lower. I tried to get some info about weights, but was not successful... I know that Mobil makes a 5-30 and 0-30. Under what conditions should these be used? Did I make a mistake? Change intervals? 3,000? 7,000? with filter/ or not? I used to change at 3,000 with "regular" oil, thought I could get some more time with the synthetic....Please advise....Alan

No, you didn't make a mistake. Mobil 1 10W-30 will do fine for you.

If you had a lot of miles on the engine and didn't use a flush, you might want to change the oil filter after 3,000 miles or so. The first batch of Mobil 1 should be good for 5-7,500 miles (if you didn't use a flush).

I use AMSOIL 0W-30, and change oil yearly, filter at 5,000 miles in the turbos. Normal drain interval for it is 35,000 miles/1 year in non-turbo engines (AMSOIL filter change at 12,500/6 months, other brand filters at 7500/6 months).

If you stick with Mobil 1, you might want to try the 0W-30 next change.
