seat belts 900 95

The right front seatbelt in my 95 sedan has stopped retracting. I'm considering a salvage yard replacement. Does anyone know if other years or models of Volvos share the same seatbelt assembly or is it unique to my car.

Your seatbelt has a pyrotechnic locking mechanism tied into the SRS system and is NOT compatible with most of the belts found in salvage yards. If you can't find the exact same part number off a wrecked 95 with intact airbags, then buy a new one from the dealer. The wrecked car must not have had the air bag deployed, else the belt will be ruined.

Too bad they couldn't have used an electric mechanism to do the same function. Once the airbags go off, it's new dash time.

1992-1995 740/940 with side impact protection belt will interchange. But as stated the bags must not be deployed. Good luck a new one is around $275.00 fron volvo. Brian
