I want to overhaul the front calipers on my 95 945 with girling calipers.65K miles..front right dust boot torn...slides dont work well either... I havent been able to find an overhaul kit from PRP,IPD,Borton,Groton....anyone have any leads?????Id rather not mail mine back as core xchange in return for another one.....thanks..JOHN

Also I havent replaced rotor or distributor cap on this car...runs well..plugs changed at 35k...would you replace them??If so with Bosch???anything I need to know in replacing them???

Save yourself some time. www.fcpgroton.com has the best prices on rotors and rebuilt calipers I've seen yet. I think it came out to $25 ea after core return.

If the front calipers on the '95 are the same as for the '94 940s (Girlings w/ABS), rebuilt calipers are fairly readily available from the major chains like Auto Zone for around $50 apiece. New sliding pins and boots aren't provided with the rebuilt calipers, however, but I found them at www.alloemvolvoparts.com at about $40 for the set (4 pins, bolts, boots, tube of grease, does both sides). The Volvo P/N is 271350, alloem's P/N is N1063-62644. The only other source for the sliding pins that I found was NAPA; their P/N was 83150 and the price I was quoted was $12.69 apiece; they would have to have been ordered and I don't know if the little rubber boots were provided or not.

John, sorry, I caught only the first part of your message. I replace the cap and rotor at 60k (on schedule). The plugs are platinum double tip, so I check the gap every now and then,a nd I make sure they don' tseize up in the head. They last over 100k. Wires seem to last around six to seven years. I replace them with Bougicord.

Volvo p/n 271572-0, contains boot, o-rings, etc. for 1995 940 Girling single piston.

There is also a caliper hardware kit, with new sliding pins, pin boots, bolts, spring clip, and slider lube for around $50 or $60. Don't know p/n, but you may want this kit as well as the one Steve describes.
