Southern Ontario source for used Volvo parts? 200 1987

Just wondering if anyone knows of a good source for used Volvo parts in Southern Ontario and/or a Canadian based parts website where one might be able to get a better idea of cost...taking into account the worthless Canadian dollar. Specifically, I'm looking for two tail light assemblies for a 1987 240DL Wagon, as well as a front left indicator lens. I'll also be pricing suspension components in the very near future. If anyone has any information on these matters, or has the above mentioned parts for sale, let me know.

I've just recently (past month or so) started checking out the forums on BRICKBOARD regularly, and I'm exceedingly greatful to have access to such a fantastic resource as this. I've just purchased my fisrt Volvo, under careful supervision or several pro's, and it's great to know that there are so many more experienced individuals out there willing to offer us novices a hand. Cheers.

Mike Pittman.

Re: Southern Ontario source for used Volvo parts? 200 1987

Hi Amanda,

I'm currently located in Toronto. I know of a bunch of places to get parts in the city...but all are pretty expensive. I know of an excellent source on the East Coast...but that dosen't really help me here! I don't think they ship...but for the extra savings it would be worth it. If Anyone has any leads, please let me know.

Cheers,

Mike.

Re: Southern Ontario source for used Volvo parts? 700 1989

Hi Amanda,

I'm also in London. What model Volvo are you having good luck finding parts for? I occassionally try the local auto wreckers for 700 series parts and usually luck out ... maybe it's just a timing thing I guess.

Wil

Thomas is right about Hamilton's Corner Garage. The owner there usually charges about 60% of the cost of a new part. I paid $70 CDN for a left front marker light assembly (lens fell off the old one) for my 740 earlier this year.

However, he's got hundreds of old Volvos in various stages of disassembly.

If you need directions or a phone number, send me an email.

Hi Mike and welcome to the board ....

Try www.volvoworld.com ... they are in Quebec ... but prices are quoted on the web in US$ ... You order.. they ship .. when you receive the part and it is satisfactory .. then you pay .... If you don't .... I wouldn't want to attempt to buy parts from another dealer anywhere in the world wide web ... however service is great.

Old Volvos never die .... they just bcome COOL !!!

Re: Southern Ontario source for used Volvo parts? 200 1987

Hi Mike, I just bought my first brick a year ago and it's an 87 240 wagon as well. I live in Waterloo every other four months and so far haven't found any "great" sources for Volvo parts in that area yet. Hamilton's Corner Garage in Guelph has lots of parts but their prices are, well, pricey. Foreign Auto Craft in Waterloo has good prices but not the greatest selection (only deals in scrap cars). Try Stephane at www.volvoworld.com because he can get just about anything you need. He's located in between Montreal and Ottawa now (used to be in Montreal) but since I'm living in Montreal I can still go pick parts up and avoid shipping costs.

If you find out about any great parts suppliers please let me know.

regards,
