Oxygen sensor removal

My stinkin' oxygen sensor is seized to the exhaust manifold so bad that the two are now one. The only way that I will get it out is to take a cutting torch and heat the manifold cherry red around the sensor break the top off of the sensor so that I can get a damn socket on the hex part of it and hope for the best. Any suggestions?

Soak and tap away with Pblaster. Believe me it works. Midas told me it was impossible. Wanted to cut it and weld it shut and drill a new hole. Yeah!

Got the right tool o2 socket. Soaked it with pblaster, tapped it, soaked it, tapped it. . . .Spent an hour doing it. Tapping the area really helps. Came out like a charm.

    Re: Oxygen sensor removal

First try an extended soak with PBlaster, then use an oxygen sensor wrench (a deep socket with a cutout for the pigtail) to try to remove it. Try the old trick of first tightening, then loosening. If that does not work, then progressively use more PBlaster, a six-point deepwall socket, and heat. Eventually it will come out.

Your best bet for removal is a father-in-law with a strong arm... that did the trick for me... plus he had a crows-foot socket (22 MM) that helped... I suppose you could cut the wires, so a normal deep socket would work...

      Aaron. :)
