89 740 Turbo Stalling 700 89

I was having a problem with the 740 stalling when it was cold, now it stalls when it is warm as well. It doesnt stall everytime but typically occurs when coasting to a stop and occurs much more with the AC on. I recently changed the plugs, cap & rotor. When cold, the car will start, idle for a moment then stall. When warm, after moving and the clutch is pushed in, the RPM's will drop below 500 and it will stall. Again, not all the time, but it seems to struggle to bounce back if it doesnt stall.

Thanks for the help!

Mine did same thing, cleaned idle bypass valve - now idles perfect.

$5.00 carb/FI cleaner saturated for 30 min, blew out, worked.......

remember to be ever so careful when reinstalling intercooler hose, delicate plastic ends ! "91 945 SE" ..90K

This looks like info I can use. What is the bypass valve?

Sorry for the dumb question.

Thanks

Re: 89 740 Turbo Stalling 700 89

As dick wrote, clean the throttle body. After that set the base idle speed to 725 plus or minus 25 rpm, and adjust the idle mixture. There is lots of information on this in the 700/900 FAQ.

Have you checked the throttle body??? If it is dirty, could be the prob.
