header pipe removal? 200 89

Just a month ago it was the damn CAT and now it's the header pipe. Yuck. It's loud as hell!!!

Anyone have any experience on replacing this sucker at home. This a good time to buy some dremeral tools? Just the thought of it scares me.

The bolts at the cat, if broken upon removal, may be drilled out and replaces with nuts, washers & bolts.

Undo this connection first, then remove the pipe at the top end.

Hsually the three hat nuts at the top of the pipe do turn off, leaving the studs usable. Again, soak things with a good penetrant.

You'll need some socket extensions (about 18" worth) in order to "sniggle" up there beside the pipe. Might be a 14mm socket, but i don't remember.

Setting up for the job is more difficult than actualy doing it.

Soak the nuts with PB Blaster a few days before you intend to spend the day cussing at your car.

We assume you have proper jacks, jack stands, etc........
