Need calipers 700 1990

I need a new set of calipers for the front brakes. My mechanic contacted a Volvo dealer who said they have been back-ordered since January. Any suggestions?

    If you really need the calipers, there are aftermarket sources. I have two used ones from a jumbo brake conversion on a 90 745. Please message me directly if you are interested.

    Get a new mechanic 700 1990

    Remember he has different motivations than you do. He want's it fixed right but he also wants to maximize his profit and minimize the prob of the car coming back to him and him having to redo it at extra cost and NO profit.

    Chances are the calipers can be overhauled or kitted in an hour apiece or less...but that's straight time and he doesn't make as much part profit (which can be as much as 40% of list price charged to YOU).

    For your 90 Girling calipers, chances are all that is needed is new pins/bushings/booties...maybe new seals/dustcaps for pistons unless the caliper is totally internally rusted/seized due to not changing the brake fluid annually. word to the wise...change/flush the brake fluid annually.

    You don't say whats wrong with the old ones. Would a repair kit be feasible? Is there a specialist in your area who could overhaul the old ones? what about used calipers from the scrappy? Try surfing the net to see if any suppliers have any on the shelf - betcha someone does. good luck, Rich.

      I replaced all 4 on my 90 740 GLE 16V. Had rusty pistons, dragging etc. I found an exceptional deal on reman at swedish engineering in ann arbor mich. on the web.
