740 Turbo clicking noise 700 1988

I have a noise coming from the passenger rear side of my Volvo. It just started earlier today and seemed to become even more pronounced as the day went by. Could someone please help me out? I'm getting this info. for my husband and he's a novice when it comes to cars, so please explain as though you're talking to a third grader. Thanks in advance!

Tori, you need to give just a little more info. If it sounds like the noise is coming from the rear wheel area, you might check the brake spring that holds the brake pads in place. Sometimes one of the two pins can work its way out and the spring pops out of place. This noise could be heard whether or not your applying the brakes.

    Good luck...

I drove around in it today and noticed it only made the noise when the car vibrated more-as I'm slowing down or speeding up, sometimes when I'm switching gears-any time the car jiggles a little more. Now it sounds more like a popping noise, though.
