How do you identify the French V 6 model 700 series sedande 700 1991

Thanks to all of you helping me figure out which Volvo to buy for a 3rd car for rough city driving.

There has been some mention of a 6 cylinder motor French made, found in some of these cars, as something I would perhaps be better off avoiding. How can I identify them at a fast glance? Are they ANY VOLVO with script reading "760" or "760 GLE" or "760 Turbo"? Ditto, 260 or 265 on the 200 model cars? I am thinking about a 4 cylinder non turbo for simplicity and durability.

Thanks to everyone who answered my previous post about which is the best Volvo, for your help, I will be an informed buyer yet!

Cheers

Jim

Re: How do you identify the French V 6 model 700 series sedande 700 1991

The odd fire mechanical fuel injected version used from 1976 through 1986 is the one with the tendencies for premature cam failure.

The 1982-1986 760 GLE uses this engine.

The 1987-1990 v6 is the later revised version with LH electronic fuel injection and superb reliability and smooth running.

The 87-90 760 GLE models often have a low resale value due to the reputation of the earlier motor and can be found as a real value.
