Adding a tachometer 200 1986

What all would one need to add a tachometer (OE) to a 1986 240 DL that doesn't have one?

I second what Michael says. I did this to my '86 240 earlier this summer and it was easy. You might want to resolder the temp compensating board while you have the instrument cluster out. I didn't and now my temperature guage is getting erratic so I'll need to go back in there. I also missed the clock so I got a small one and a voltmeter on ebay to fit in the two blank spaces just to the right of the instrument cluster.

You need the tachometer, and...that's it. Well, you'll need a couple of screwdrivers to remove the cluster, and then remove the large clock. Basically it's a simple swap with one wire to hook up, and the wire is already existing in your car. Coming off the harness that goes to the instrument cluster, there should be a white/red wire with a spade connector that gets plugged into the back of the tachometer. There are complete instructions on installing a large tach in the archives.
