whats the 2 pipe-like structures running from the top to bottom of the upper deck of my trunk? i cant figure any good reason for them other that drainage... but thats a truely extensive aquaduct system for a trunk lid... thanks!

    Marc -

Volvo believes that air should always flow thru the cabin while the car is in motion, it's one of those safety things. It's one of the reasons that the heater blower blows even if the switch sez off.

On the 245 model there is a vent thing near the gas filler door that allows air out but not in. On the sedan that function is done by the vents along the bottom of the rear window.

The pipes you see in the trunk allow water that collects thru the exterior vents to drain out the bottom. If you had a sunroof there would be "Y" connector in those pipes allowing the rear sunroof drains to join in.

    Regards,

    Bob

I'm pretty sure they're not sunroof drains because I have those tubes in the trunk, and I don't have a sunroof.
