SU question / basic help 1800 '69

I had some fuel leaking from where the jet (hose in the spring-type sleeve) goes into the float bowl.

Question - the hose has a brass insert at the end that goes in and NOTHING else. Basically you can just pull it out w/ out loosening the brass nut.

What is that? am I missing a piece? is that normal?

BTW - these are newly reworked, so no aging plastice issues.

Thanks for ANY input.

    I just had a similar problem with mine, the plastic tube comes out of the brass piece right? I tried fixing it to no avail and ended up buying a new peice. It was about thirty bucks.

    There should be a soft rubber washer around the hose under

    the washer so the nut and washer tighten it in the threaded

    hole and squeeze it against the hose.

        If you haven't already, check that the washer isn't stuck down the end of the hole in the float chamber that the pipe goes into. If it is, pick it out and re-use it (provided its un-damaged of course).

        Angelo;

        First (and only) option is to install washer!

        ...in a pinch, I've sliced an emergency washer from fuel compatible hose of the correct diameter, but they should still be available. Can anyone out there verify if BUNA-N rubber is fuel compatible?...because you could use one of those, and they're readily available.

        Cheerio,
