What should I ask for my '81 240? 200 1981

I'm going to sell my '81 240 DL Sedan, Marroon, 4 door, auto. It has 224K and many replacement parts, including in the last three years, transmission, brake calipers, front end parts, main fuel pump, valve job and more. I realize probably can't get out of it all I have into it. This is a Wisconsin vehicle, normal surface blemishes of rust, only hole is where the spare tire sits. Would $800 be reasonable? Suggestions?

Thanks, Bill

Any car that reliably runs and is street legal is easily worth $800.

buy my car, then 200 1981

      Selling my '85 245DL, 272k. The asking price is $500, and I'll take $350.

Runs great, but no floors or rocker panels left.

Tell me where I can get $800, and I'll drive it there.

I guess you didn't read my post very clearly. If your car is rusted out, it isn't street legal in many states. It sounds like $350 is about the right asking price.

Move to Michigan, then 200 1981

Guess I've never heard of such a thing. In Michigan, if it goes down the road, it's legal. After all, we *invented* rust!

Well spoken about Michigan! Here in Holland, I saw a car with no hood, no front fender and no grill/bumper driving down the road.

"Here in Holland, I saw a car with no hood, no front fender and no grill/bumper..."

Is Holland anywhere near Boston? They drive 'em like that here, too.... In fact, if you leave YOUR car parked aside the road for two or three minutes, it'll look like that....

            Evan-

I live in Chicago, and my wife's 245's floors rusted out. A heavier gent sat in the passenger seat and slowly started sinking down. Almost ended up like a Fred Flinstone episode gone terribly wrong, if you know what I mean!!

After a new floor, she's better than ever, with the exception of a leaky windshield (probably the cause of the floor incident), and rough cold running. Seriously though, if you were to find a buyer and drive if to them for $800, you'd spend all your profit in gas with the kind of prices we have up here!!! Just hang on to your beast, and have some fun and put a new floor in with your spare time. :)
