Battery Charging Problems - Help 200 82

I got back from vacation yesterday, and sure enough my 240 turbo was dead (I knew I should have disconnected the battery). Well, This morning I hooked up a battery charger to it and began to charge it. After about 30 minutes, with enough power in the battery to light up the dash lights, I switched to start mode on the charger and tried to start the car. Well, it turned over a few times, began to die, and then I heard a "CLICK" and all was dead. Now, the dash lights do not even come on. WHAT HAVE I DONE, HAVE I KILLED IT? Help. I need to drive my car. Thanks
