Crank Pulley and Timing Mark 200 1992

I just did my first timing belt replacement over the weekend on the B230F engine. I'm sure I got the belt on properly with nothing moving, but I never could quite find the timing mark on the Crank. Where it it located?

I'm also now having second thoughts, I'm not sure I put the crank pulley back on correctly. Does the open notch on the pulley align with the open notch on the crank gear? Or does the open notch on the pulley fit over the key that is part of the crank gear (the key that the guide plate fits over)? I can't remember which way I fit the pulley back on.

Thanks,

TomB

Re: Crank Pulley and Timing Mark 200 1992

    Hi Tom,

The crank pulley notch fits into the key that sticks out slightly from

the guide washer that sits against the timing belt pulley. The mark for the

crank is located as a cutout on the rear guide behind the timing pulley.

It lines up with a little pointer on the aluminum front engine cover.

It sits around 12 o'clock position and it helps to look at it with

a flashlight. One time when I put the crank pulley on I couldn't find

the timing mark. I had forgotten to put the crank pulley on lined up with

the keyway. If you do this the pulley doesn't sit flat and you can see

the wobble from the side. I loosened the belts and unbolted the pulley

and turned it until it was correct and after that when I checked the timing

I could see the mark in the crank pulley for timing the engine.

Hope this helps let me know if you need anything clarified.
