245 Turbo bogs down 200 1983

I need some advice. My 1983 245 turbo with AW71 drives just fine most of the time, except for some intances when it needs power going up a hill, when it will start to bog down and quickly overheat. It recently has had a new Cat converter and new in-tank fuel pump.

any ideas on why?

thanks

-Bruce

Is the timing perfect, are the fuel enrichment circuits working, are the post turbo hoses (as in vacuum hoses as well) all PERFECT?

Is the engine in good tune (all NEW parts) and the injectors spraying perfectly?

    Is your fuel pressure correct?

      Re: 245 Turbo bogs down 200 1983

Well paul, all I can say it seems to run fine, and have decent power under acceleration for a while, but after a little hard driving and I hit the hills It will bog down, and with in a short time start to over heat. I pull over as soon as possible when It starts to bog down. The only type of work it has in the last 30,000 miles (it presently has 185,000) is new plugs/rotor, a new cat converter and a new in tank fuel pump.

I had in for service to correct this problem, but it still exists

      thanks for your help

      -Bruce

        Bruce,

Does the car have the original turbocharger?

I don't know the cars history prior to 150,00 mile, when I bought it.

but I would have to say the the turbo has been changed, because it is a water cooled turbo, and I don't think there were any turbos sold with a water cooled turbo prior to 1984
