Best Brake Pads? 200 1993

I've had my share of premature wear and tear with break pads. I saw that IPD is offering brake pads with a 40,000 mile guarantee. I think that's the best for a heavy set 1993 240. But my question is.. what kind of pads have YOU ALL (y'all) used and whats the longest lasting one?

MOE

p.s. we're talking stop and go NYC Manhattan traffic all the damn time!

I have 40k on a set of Remsa Gold pads ($21 for the front pads, shims, and brand new hardware). I've used them repeatedly and the last set I took off with 30k on them were about 1/3 used. They hold up well and don't dust too badly.

The Volvo pads seem to stop really well, however. They are dusty, but I don't really mind the dust. Also the Remsa pads can sometimes be noisy, but I'm not too picky about that either. Mostly, just picky about how they stop.

I didn't think anyone used brakes in Manhattan, I thought that's what bumpers and horns were for there :-)

Gulliani (mayor of NYC) just passed the Fred Flintstone act, which requires that one must have brake pads on their automobile and can't use their feet to stop anymore.

Too bad they ain't do nothing bout them cell phone users!

Mabey he can pass another law requiring cell phones used while driving to be confiscated and used for filling pot-holes?

I own 4 240's and use only genuine volvo brake parts. It's been my experience that the "long lasting" pads do not perform as well and they are noisy.

My mothers 90 245 used to eat the genuine volvo pads every 20k. Tons

of dust and they are expensive to boot. I changed her car to the PBR

deluxe which is what IPD sells. Now, they last the 40k or more and

there is much less dust with no squeal. In my experience people that

have problems with the PBR deluxe pads did not wear them in correctly.

Its very important to follow the wear in procedure. In my experience

the PBR pads stop as well as oem or better.
