altenator light 900 1997

I've got a strange one. My alt light comes on when the engine is cold or has been sitting awhile. It'll come on when accelarating or decellerating.I've measured the voltage when the light is on and when off. Same result, 13.75 volts. The problem started when I put a new battery in. I haven't had any problems with new battery, plenty of amps and starts right up in the AM.

Any ideas or suggestions?

    Re: altenator light 900 1997

/// My general experierence is that the light being on when the engine is off indicates a fault in the voltage regulator. What is you charging voltage? It should be 14.5 volts. Alternator running voltage is 13.8 nominal.

The change while moving would point to a wire problem near the alternator.
