Engine rebuild valve shim question. 700 88

I would like to know if it isn't easier to just measure the clearances and then remove the camshaft for shim swaping/replacement.

Its a 530 B230FT head that was rebuilt but the guy/jerk didn't do the shims. The head is sitting on my bench so there's no timing belt to worry about.

Thanks,

Rene

Re: Engine rebuild valve shim question. 700 88

That method works for me. I usually leave the little rubber springs between the valve stem and the bucket off until I have the gaps right. Its very easy to let those little suckers lead you down the garden path.
