problems removing flame trap 900 1995

tried to remove flame trap hoses on my 1995 940 wagon. Lifted 5 inch hose from breather box ok,but couldnt disconnect the small hose from... the trap assembly..Would be easier to remove threaded fitting that small hose is connected to on the intake manifold. That will allow me to get the housing out from that tight piece of real estate where the damn thing is stashed..... Under fuel rail and adjacent to injector wires. Is this ok or ill adised to disconnect the coupling at the intake mainfold.. See no other way to work in the closed space. Should I have a new plastic trap housing ready to go also??? It appears the larger upper hose is on real tight and may crack the housing... Should I just replace the housing ,hoses and the whole shebang at 60000 miles..No problems with system..just never been cleaned or replaced..Car has had mobil 1 changed every 5k..THANKS JOHN
