Rear caliper sources. 200 86

I need one or both rear calipers for my girlfriends 86 244. One caliper is seized and the other one is probably seized too but I haven't checked.

I'd like to get some from a wrecker. What years are compatible with my 86 244?

Thanks,

Rene

Rene -

According to my handy dandy VCNA Quick Reference Parts Catalog (you should get one) the rear caliper has been ATE and the same P/N for all models of 240 & 260 from 1977 on. I bought a re-build kit for rears years ago, it was a Wagner from an AutoZone-type store. Maybe OK for you?

Good Luck, Bob

Ok: "According to my handy dandy VCNA Quick Reference Parts Catalog (you should get one)..."

Agreed. Where should I go to get this guy?

Re: Rear caliper sources. 200 86

The handy dandy... is a Volvo Cars of North America publication I have had 7 or 8 years. I found an order card in the parts dept of Neils Sefeldt Volvo and ordered the book. Things change - Sefeldt moved, the parts guys that were my buddies are gone, and - maybe the source of the book is changed. BUT - I got it by mail from:

Brentwood Volvo Ferrari

7700 Manchester Road

St. Louis, MO 63183

314-644-9501, FAX: 314-644-7004, Parts: 1-800-844-9402.

Info is from an old card I stapled into the book. The book is the Jan 1994 edition and has a Volvo P/N 7777114-5. There is a business reply card in it to report errors, and the address it goes to is:

Volvo Cars of North America, Inc.

P. O. Box 930

Rockleigh, NJ 07647 Attention: Parts Publications

You might see if Ken Cook handles this now, or look on www.volvocars.com/lit

It has been a great resource for me, lately in getting parts from eBay. I bought a radiator off a 740 that I knew would fit my 240's. I was the only bidder so I got it for his opening price of $1.00, shipping Honolulu to Houston was $17.00. It is aluminum but still a good spare.

Good Luck to you. Bob

Re: Rear caliper sources. 200 86

Great post, Bob

I am always inthe jjunkyard shifting from one foot to the other wondering whether or not I should pull and buy a part, but don't know if it is compatible with my project.

Thanks.

Re: Rear caliper sources. 200 86

I SHOULD get one. Actually, I just looked that up on the Volvoworld and RPR sites. Thanks for the info and reassurance. I'll head down to the local junker tomorrow.

Rene
