Q: M4 vs M40 trans + application 444-544

I understand the M4, 4S transmission is seen in use with B-16 applications. But I am not well educated as to the difference between the M4 and M40. Could someone enlighten me?? And in what cars could a person place a M4? Indeed, is there any reason to use the M4, except for originality?? Lastly, if you had a good M4, what is the best use for it?? Thanks, Dennis

Re: Q: M4 vs M40 trans + application 444-544

The major external difference is the mounting bolt pattern. That's also the main reason for using one. They aren't interchangeable.

You could use it behind a B-4, B-14 or B-16 motor in a 444,445 or early 544. The best use would be to put it behind one of those motors, in one of those cars.
