what ballast resistor? 200 81

Ive been re wiring a 1981/240DL for a friend. seems someone wired a chevy alternator up BACKWARDS and cooked the works..

weve aquired a twin donor car(rod knock) and have been replacing the harnesses that were badly mangled.

I cant for the life of me find the ballast resistor that my cheap$%#

haynes manual tells me I must have. HELP!.......RUSS

    If you are working on a CIS (also known as K-Jet)car that has the Bosch ignition you are supposed to have a ballast resistor. The resistor is located at the very right rear of the engine compartment. Its in the area below the right hood hinge. You should see two wires on one end and one on the other. Its usually a white cylinder with the wire connections on the ends. Hope this help you.

      I believe that you may have a Volvo-Chrysler ignition system which doesn't use a ballast resistor.

    Not all 240 series have ballast resistors. Couldnt find any on my 78 and 83,84 s.
