Rear axle oil 120-130 1966

Question, I've read in various books that I should use Hypoid gear oil for the rear of my 122. Is this different than the SAE-90 gear oil you find at most auto parts stores? Thanks in advance...Bob

Same stuff. But even people that won't/don't use synthetic in their engines can/do use synthetic gear oil in their rears.

I have never seen a reason not to. The volume is so small the total cost is low, even if you don't fiqure that's a lifetime fill (really no need to change unless it get contaminated with water or dirt), the improved economy, the cooler runing and extended life.

My favorite, Amsoil Series 2000 75W-140 would work great.
