I would agree with Randy ... go to shox.com. I've replaced the factory shocks on my 940 turbo w/ Boge Pro Gas from shox.com. Good performance with out a harsh ride. The Pro-gas may be the better choice for 700/900. I've installed Turbo Gas on a couple of my 240s ... the T/G shocks have worked well on them. Tokico makes a good shock ... firm to the point of almost being harsh but very good performance and relatively low cost. What ever you decide .... shox.com is likely to have the best price. I've bought several sets of shocks/struts from them. I'm very happy with the prices and service. My $.02

Jerry, do you have any insights on the Pro Gas shocks if I were to put them on a 245? It seems that few people on this board have tried the Pro Gas vs. the Turbo Gas. I wouldn't mind the improved handling w/TurboG's, but I simply can't believe the state of the roads around here. I've seen better roads in Moscow. Right now I'm getting a harsh enough ride, with stock shocks and 14" wheels, but my shocks are worn out and I might need some new bushings here and there.

Bottom line - I want better handling (got ipd sways) but can't stand the harshness (I used to drive 70's Lincoln Continentals). Do the Pro Gas give good control? Are the Turbo's not TOO harsh on a 240?

Re: '91 745 Who sells inexpensive shocks ? 700 91

Vatas,

I didn't find the Turbo Gas added any harshness to the ride of my 245DL. Certainly not as firm as the Tokicos I had on my old 242. Both have stock sway bars and good suspension bushings. My 944T has IPD bars. While I very much like the way it handles, it rides a bit harsher with the bars. I considered Bilsteins as replacement for the stock shocks/struts, but I was concerned about adding to the over all stiffness of the suspension. I went with Boge Pro-Gas. Very mellow at low speeds ... but seem to really get control of things when I push the Turbo on twisty roads. So a good compromise for my tastes. May be a good choice for you in combination with the IPD bars. I would check out your supension bushings and make sure they are in good shape. That may be contributing to the problem.

Re: '91 745 Who sells inexpensive shocks ? 700 91

I can't comment on the boge shocks, but I can say for sure that new rear suspension bushings make the car ride MUCH smoother. I had the trailing arm and torque rod bushings replaced on my '87 240 at 136K, and the car felt like it was brand new. I was going to try boge turbo gas shocks to replace the originals on my car, but I found a great deal on a set of Bilsteins, and I had to take it. They'll be nice with my Jamex springs and 205/55/15 tires, although it won't be a soft ride.

Re: '91 745 Who sells inexpensive shocks ? 700 91

Have you tried shox.com? They gave me the best price for the Boge Turbo Gas for my 82 GLT. As an aside I will tell you that the Boge's gave me exactly what I wanted on both of the 240's that I have installed them on. However when I put a set on my 740 GL I found them to be harsher than I expected (or wanted) When my 740 Turbo wagon is ready for new shocks I don't know what I will put on it, but I don't think it will be Boge Turbo Gas.

Randy
