Photos inside (large. 387k total) 120-130 66

Sorry about the size. I tried to trim them down a bit, but some are huge. The 1800 belongs to a friend of mine, Scott. One of the best I have ever seen. Anyway, here's a fewpics. Any and all comments appreciated. Be nice, please. Sorry no speedo shots. I promise it was moving, though.

Some may think the plug wires are 180 degrees off. . .

I can't believe it started!

The Dist Twist (or 1, 3, 4, 2) 120-130 66

Justin!

Looks great!

If I were you I'd loosen the distributor and turn it clockwise

exactly 90° and then put the wires back counterclockwise one hole.

Thanks for the pics! Djet looks right at home under that hood... er, under where the hood would usually be...

Anyway, I stole the second pic for my backdrop. I'll send royalties if necessary.

I said it already and I'll say it again: congratulations Justin, for an excellent project and a job well done! Fantastic!

Best,

Cam

Re: Photos inside (large. 387k total) 120-130 66

Thanks a lot. Without your help it would have never happened. And as for that picture you swiped; is it an example of how NOT to wire a car? I swear, it looks like birds nested in the engine bay while I was working. And to top it off, at the start of the electrical portion, I went to the hardware store and bought a big spool of green wire. So, everything is wired in green!!

Birds nest? I was just getting hungry for some noodles...

You'll have plenty of time to tidy up the wiring later if that's what you decide to do.

Did you say Everything is wired in green? That might be confusing someday down the road! Or d'you just mean that you used green wire for all of the new stuff (coil to relay, etc)? If it's the latter, you probably won't have too much confusion.

One last thought: it's a really good thing you know this car backward and forward. Because every mechanic in the Western Hemisphere will fear it.

Go drive around and tell us how it is!

Best,

Cam

Looks good. You put fuel injection on the 122, right? If so, good for you, or did it come with FI? Just curious. Nice pics, good clarity.

Yes, I put the FI in myself. I wish it came like that! Thanks for the kind words.

Re: Photos inside (large. 387k total) 120-130 66

Justin;

Congrats! I love it when a plan comes together. Don't you just love that initial smell of a fresh motor as all of the permatex, paint, and other solvents bake off?

If the 180 degree off plug wires bother you terribly, its no big job to reindex the distributor drive gear...but you knew that. See you on the road.

A couple of Q's though.

1. In third pic, what's all that spaggetti on the roof, surplus wire which came from the car?????

2. I've always liked the look of Minilite wheels. Are those 15 inch and if so what is your source.

Regards,

Re: Photos inside (large. 387k total) 120-130 66

Thanks! The POR aluminum exhaust paint baking off was enough to make me ill or elated, depending on how I tuhought about it. Ugh. That's why the car was started up *outside* after an initial trial and initial immersion into the stink that it created.

As for the stuff on the roof; it's an old clmbing rope I used to tow it around with my BMW(!!) It was in the trunk, but I had taken it out when fussing with the fuel return issue a while back. Also coated the spare tire well with POR-15.

And the wheels are Panasports, from K-speed. I don't know if Minilites are available anymore, but there is a company called Superlite that uses the same molds for their wheels, and are likely a better copy of the originals than the Panasports. But even the Panasports were still one of the biggest single costs of the whole project. They are 15x6.

Hey there nice wheels! I just wanted to scold you for not wearing your seatbelt, I know it is a Volvo, but safety first! LOL...

Anyhow, wanna come over and help me with my project now? (just kidding)

Stefan

Actually, the center part of the seat belts is not attached all the way, yet. Just threaded on. Tonight, though, I'm going to finish off the last pieces like that, attaching the hood, and what not. Thanks for the input.
