intermittent setting on rear wiper on 740 wagon 700 89

In the intermittent mode, the wiper moves in a jerky motion. On the constant setting, it operates normally. Is the jerkiness caused by the intermittent circut or the Wiper motor. Wher is the intermittent circut located?

I had the same problem on my '92. Thought about tearing the motor apart to clean up contacts, then found out the motor was $300 new, $150 used/rebuilt.

Ended up following the directions in the 700/900 FAQ to clean, grease, and align the linkage. Works great now, except it parks on the wrong side. (So I must have done something wrong on the align part.....). Not worth tearing apart again, though.
