won't restart 200 79

i started my 79 244dl this morning as usual, after a few minutes of running normally it shut off, when i went to restart the car it would not restart. i opened the hood and wiggled wires and checked connections to no avail. one thing i noticed is no fuel pump humm at all, is it normal for the fuel pump to cut out like that, could the pump be shot? how can i find out?

    What done said. If it starts then the fuel pump relay has had it. Mine went without any hint. I pulled the car out of the garage to get to my lawn mower, that was it, it was done. These relays are one on the Volvos quirks.

    Yeah, mine just did the same (79 242) and the fuel pump relay had fried. Open the relay and have a look.

    Jump fuse 5 to 7. This bypasses the relay and powers the pumps directly, even with the key off.
