My 82 242 Turbo is having the same warm starting problem.
The hard start seems like it is not getting fuel, it will take up to 10 tries to get it to start. I vary the time cranking, throttle position and all. nothing seems to help for a bit.
does yours start fine when the engine is cold and HOT?
By hot I mean within like 1.5 hours of shutting it off.
Mine has the hardest time when the engine has cooled for 2-4 hours.
Does yours run just fine otherwise and not seen mileage decrease?
mine does.
if so I would gather that the main pump is just fine. I would also assume that our rest fuel pressures are just fine, this is due to the rest fuel pressure happens 30 minutes after shut off according to the Bentley.
I have started to clean things. I have checked all the ignition related components on my car for resistance and everything seems to be in spec.
Replaced the ignition computer too, but I like you seem to think it is a fuel problem.
My suspicisions say the control pressure regulator is going out. This is due to when the regulator is supposed to help ( I think). Since the control pressure regulator is for warm up.
Have you checked the cold start injector? Friend john Laughling pointed me to that as a source of the problem but I have yet to have time to test it
:(
hope this helps
good luck with it
take care
