Water Leak Found - Duh! 200 84

I had been getting rainwater inside my 245's tailgate after each good storm, and was at my wit's end to find the leak. All the seals around the glass, the handle, the hinges are good. . . the hinges! The PO replaced the tailgate wires and routed them from under the headliner rather than through the hinges. The water must be entering through those vacated channels. So, if you have done this same wiring upgrade, (this routing prevents them from breaking quickly due to excessive flexing), then be sure to plug the channels in both the roof and hatch-mounted hinges.

Phil,I did that upgrade and I get a puddle under the third seat after a good rain.I thought it was coming in thru the roof rack or somewhere.I'll be sure to plug the channels and cross my fingers.

Thanks for the tip! Phil Stone '85 245GL 187K
