Air Conditioner 120-130 64

I have been offered a complete A/C from a 73 144.Is there a way I can use these pieces in my 122? I have a B-20E. Can I use the hoses. The compressor, and Idler Pulley should fit without problem. Can I use most of it with a Monarch blower which is an under dash fit for the 122?Will the blower from the 144 possibly fit?

My guess is that you can probably use about everything but

the 144 dash unit. You may have cooling problems because of

the inefficient/distant 122 fan. If you can get an electric

fan in front of it it should help a lot. The Monarch blower will

probably work but it will not be exactly a "bolt-in".

I suggest you get with a friend who knows something about

auto air conditioning before you start any modifications.

Good hoses and fittings are worth their weight in gold,

and tighten them up GOOD AND TIGHT! Make sure your compressor

has good seals too. If you can find a rotary compressor such

as Sanden or Sankyo it will probably work better than the

    ancient York.

      Speaking of ancient york compressors:

Are there any modern rotary compressors that have the same mounting

and geometry as the york compressors? This would be ideal since it would

allow me to use all the same hardware and belts, but at the same time be

      a little more efficient.

(eventually I'd like to get the AC in my 164 working, and maybe

transplant the ac from my 142 parts car to my 122)

      thanks,

      chris

I don't think so but there have been articles posted about

the conversion. I think someone posted a link about a kit

that is available to do that.

(Why would anyone make a rotary compressor shaped like a

        vertical twin piston compressor?)
