!00,000 mile badges...The years ago part is right. I doubt they give those things away any longer.
You need to get out and drive that thing more it should have over 200.000 by now! I have an 86 with 234,+000 and I don't think Ford has a clue on how to keep their so-so cars bodies together 100,000 mi. They are just lucky the engines push past 120,000 without major headaches.
Good question is, do the new Volvo front wheel drives have their bugs worked out before.. we.. the consumer figure out how to make them last longer!
Volvo has made a lot of changes trying to catch the eye of the new buyer and forgetting what built the car "you can beleive in"
The inline four is built bullet proof and it got that way because it was their main stay engine for the people, who desired dependable function, before flashy design changes.
Volvo has always purchased from other manufactures just like the others.
Volvo could have done better in the plastics department but that changes faster than the score in a basketball game.
The 4 cylinder engine people at Volvo were the best in the world and they built Volvos reputation, the safety thing has been pushed almost even.
When I see these 4WD cars and diesel trucks creep over speed bumps I have to ask, is it marketing or what?
Besides if you can't build a great car for less than 25,000 you are only profit minded. Thats where it seems, that all things are trying to go.
100,000 200,000 is a pride thing. Swedish built or American or whoever I feel good and wear my own badge knowing that I can recognize the real good and keep it close to the heart in my life! Drive on!
