Cheers.

Re: deep well socket size for oil pressure sender 200 85

I have a special socket for changing oil senders. I've used it on sveral makes of cars (Chev, Ford, '83 Volvo 240). It is an S-K 4488 and fit both 1" and 1 1/16" senders. It fit my Volvo so it must be close to a metric size. It is fairly deep and has rounded corners iside to fit the shape of the sender.

Re: deep well socket size for oil pressure sender 200 85

hey big spender

next time you change the oil get a 10 inch pair of visegrips and you can get to it this way,

it is wide open when the oil filter is off

or if you wish to do this from above then undo the alternator adjusting bolt and pull off the belts and roll the alternator down and you will see the sender

clean the area off FIRST then remove sender be sure to use thread sealer when you install the new sender

DO NOT overtighten

why buy a socket when it will not be used again for years,

now a good pair of vice grips, now your talking

what's that phrase?

"HAVE VISEGRIPS WILL TRAVEL"

hope that helps

kgb

Re: deep well socket size for oil pressure sender 200 85

If the sender is anything like mine (83' 242 Turbo), you wil have to use a regular open end wrench to get it off. A few weeks ago I was looking for a huge oil leak, and found that the brass connection between the sender and the block was cracked, causing oil to come out at 60psi. My sender did look like it would need a huge socket from above, but from under the car I found that a regular wrench is what was necesary. I don't remember the exact size, but it was somewhere in the 13mm range.
