Unusual front end noise? 700 92

My 92 745t with 116k commuter\city miles has developed a frustrating front end noise. When going over pavement irregularites it sounds as if the coil is rubbing on something (lower spring seat?) or just complaing as it flexes. When at a stop and turning the steering whell lock to lock the noise is not made. The ball joints have been replaced, the bushings are fine and as far as I can tell everything is "normal" with the front end. I do not think (a little bit of hope is mixed in as well) that anything is coming apart in the front end, but I would like to enjoy a quiet drive when not on the highway. Unless I missed something, the 700\900 FAQ does not address this type of noise. Has anyone else experienced or heard of a similar noise or problem. Any help, suggestions, or insight would be greatly appreciated. As always, I look forward to the expert help provided by fellow Brick lovers\owners.

Could be inner tie rod ends. The tie rod will feel "creaky" if you touch it while somebody bounces the car.

They are not expensive or difficult to replace, but you will need an alignment. Get both done if one is creaky, because the other won't be far behind and you probably don't want to pay for an extra alignment.

Brain, did you do the 12/6 and 9/3 wheel grab test on the front end..this is a good problem determination helper..also the radius arm bushings on the 700 last about 20k..i replaced all my bushings with polyethylene type..got parts from IPD...these babies will outlast the car...

12/6 9/3 test...raise front wheel (1)from floor..grab wheel at 12 and 6 o'clock position rock top to bottom..there should be very little play..if there is play, suspect ball joints/lower suspension....grab wheel at 9 and 3 o'clock position and rock it laterally...if there is play suspect tie rods/steering rack problems.....good luck
